Approximately 80% less emissions of dust and heave metals at Pellet Plant
At the Pellet Plant, iron ore is processed into round pellets which we use in our blast furnaces.
By the end of 2023, we connected the dust removal plant with the Pellet Plant. The filter is now being tested and optimised. The aim is to remove as much dust as possible from the flue gases released when making pellets. With this installation, we expect to reduce dust and heavy metal emissions by around 80% compared to 2019.
Did you know?
- That the dust removal plant contains some 140 metres of pipe, which is as wide as an underground tunnel?
- That the extracted air is filtered through 6,000 filter bags, each 10 metres long. A total of 60 kilometres of filter cloth?
- That the dust removal plant is part of our largest ever environmental facility? It will soon be linked to the DeNOx plant and the new water purification plant (which we are still building) and then we will also tackle nitrogen oxide emissions!
- 35% fewer emissions of particulate matter
- 55% fewer emissions of heavy metals
- 70% fewer emissions of lead

Om ook stikstofoxiden (NOx) uit het rookgas van de Pelletfabriek te kunnen halen, bouwen we op dit moment een DeNOx-installatie. En net als bij de grootste stofzuiger van Nederland, is
