Distribution is the second largest network of steel service centres in Europe. It processes steel from Tata Steel IJmuiden and other suppliers using methods such as decoiling (unwinding and cutting coils of steel to length), blanking (pressing plates) and slitting (cutting steel into lengths). Distribution has some 700 employees.
Multisteel, in the Maastricht service centre, started life as a sales office of what was then British Steel. Nowadays, it processes cold-rolled and galvanised steel from IJmuiden, mainly into thin material types.
Feijen is located in the Maastricht service centre. It was established in 1960 and specialises in thicker steels. It process hot-rolled coils into sheets.
The Gelsenkirchen site in Germany was established in 2000 and specialises in cutting steel. It mainly supplies high-grade steels for the industry and car manufacturers.
Unitol in Corbeil-Essonnes, France, is one of the main suppliers to the French automotive industry. Unitol mainly processes steel from IJmuiden and converts wide rolls of steel into precision rolls, for example.
Layde in Durango, Spain, is Distribution's most technical location. It has a pickling line and cold reduction mill that mainly process material for the automotive industry.
Halmstad in Sweden is our largest service centre in Scandinavia and supplies high-quality products for the automotive industry, among other things. In 2022, this site merged with our location in Fredrikstad (Norway).
Naantali in Finland was established in 1972 and manufactures a wide variety of materials. The site has more than 22,000 m2 of production space and storage halls.
